Government and aided pharmacy colleges offer subsidized education to its students. These colleges are owned or managed by relevant department of the state government. Or they are known to receive funding from the state government. As a result, these colleges are able to provide subsidized education to students. In other words, these colleges charge relatively lower tuition fees.

 

On the other hand, private D.Pharm. colleges are owned and managed by private educational or charitable trusts. Due to private ownership, these colleges are known to charge relatively higher tuition fees. Some private colleges do provide scholarships to meritorious candidates though.

D.Pharm. Admission in Gujarat 2022

Admission process may vary from one pharmacy college to another. Main modes of admission process are – merit based admission, direct admission and donation based admission process.

 

All of the government colleges and good private colleges follow merit based admission process. Under this mode of admission, seats are allotted among deserving candidates on the basis of their rank in a merit list. This merit list is prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in relevant entrance test/selection exam and/or their performance in board examination.

 

Direct admission process is followed when an institute has too many vacant seats to fill up. Usually mid-table and low rated colleges are known to employ this tactic. Under this process, seats are distributed among eligible candidates on first come, first served basis.

 

When it comes to many private D.Pharm. colleges, certain number of seats are reserved under the management quota. These seats are allotted to eligible candidates on the basis of monetary transaction conducted between the two parties.

 

Fees

D.Pharm. tuition fees depends upon factors such as – type of college (government or private), scholarship status of the candidate, rating of the college etc. On an average, private pharmacy colleges could charge anywhere between 20-40K INR per year. Government pharmacy colleges are known to provide subsidized education to its students (around 1200 INR).

 

D.Pharm. Course Details

D.Pharm. stands for Diploma in Pharmacy. It is also known as Diploma of Pharmacy. It is a diploma level pharmacy education program.

 

The course duration is two years. Candidates who have passed 12th class with Science stream subjects are eligible to pursue this course.

 

As the name suggests, this program deals with the discipline of pharmaceutical science. The program trains students and turns them into skilled pharmacists.

 

Pharmacy is a broad field. This field consists of different sub-branches. D.Pharm. program has been crafted to impart basic knowledge about these streams and sub-branches of pharmacy.

 

The program deals with topics such as – pharmaceutics, pharmacology, quality assurance, pharmaceutical industry, dispensing, health education, clinical pharmacy etc. Apart from core-subjects, the program also deals with additional topics such as – interpersonal skills and management skills.
