Different types of engineering courses in India

Engineering courses in India can be classified into different types on the basis of factors such as – academic level and format of the course. For example, based on the academic level, engineering programs can be broadly classified into the following types – UG, PG and Doctoral Degree programs.

UG and PG engineering admission – entrance exams facilitate both of these events. For example – JEE exam facilitates UG engineering admission process and GATE facilitates PG engineering admission process.

However, admission process may vary from one institute to another. Many colleges have seats reserved under NRI or management quota. These seats are also known as ‘donation based’ seats. Some colleges are also known to carry out direct admission process (due to large number of vacant seats in those colleges).
