Baroda Manipal School of Banking’s exam and course details

A career in banking sector is what many Indian graduates look forward to. The banking sector has had a rise in its appeal recently. It has become so popular that even technical course graduates, like- Engineering graduates are looking to build a career in this sector. This also has led to increased number of applicants for competitive exams like IBPS, other banking exams etc. Here, I’m going to tell you more about a premier Banking course and Institute- Baroda- Manipal School of Banking. I’ll also shed light on the admission process and important dates regarding this exam.

Details about BMSB and the course taught there-

Baroda Manipal School of Banking is a joint venture between Bank of Baroda and Manipal Group. Usually, the case with most banking entrance exams is that a candidate has to crack the written exam, the interview and then he/she is being admitted as a Probationary Officer.

But in the case of BMSB, things work differently. First of all, candidates are selected through competitive exam, first an online exam, which is followed up by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The selected students are then put through a course (Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance), a 9 month long course that imparts knowledge associated with banking sector and its day to day processes. The fees of this course is 3.45 Lakhs. 3 months are solely devoted towards internships in Bank of Baroda branches, to further help the candidates acquire practical knowledge.

Candidates who successfully complete the course are later made Probationary Officers. Yes, POs in Bank of Baroda.

 

Details regarding BMSB entrance exam and important dates-

Let me run through the important dates related to this examination. The dates provided here is applicable to the academic year- 2014-15. All the dates mentioned in this article are in DD/MM/YYYY format.

Registration process is online. The process started on 30-06-2014. The last date for online registration is 16-07-2014 (today!). The fee for registering is 550 Rupees for General Category candidates and 50 Rupees for SC and ST Category candidates.

Candidates who successfully registered can download their Call Letter from 4-08-2014 onward. The tentative date of exam is- 14-08-2014.

 

Important eligibility criteria-

A candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University, with minimum 60% marks (in case of General Category) and 55% (in case of SC/ST).

Now let us focus on age criteria. Applying candidate must be at least 20 years old, at the time of applying. The age limit threshold is 28 years. That’s the upper limit of age criteria.

However, there are age limit relaxations for SC/ST and OBC Candidates. SC/ST candidates can enjoy an age relaxation of 5 years. While OBC candidates get to enjoy 3 years age relaxation.

 

Important details regarding the style of exam-

The selection process consists of an online exam (objective type questions), which is followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The Online Objective exam will be conducted across select exam centers. You may check out the entire list on BoB’s website.

Online test will last for 2 hours. The total score of the exam is 200 marks. Online exam consists of tests like- Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and General Awareness, each possessing 50 marks.

A candidate has to score minimum qualifying marks in each section to qualify for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
